Great news! My best friend just had her first child. He is absolutely adorable in every way and I am beyond happy for her and her family. I have a problem though, the more I think about this beautiful bundle of joy, the more terrified I become for my friend. I mean, all I see are dollar signs. I know that spending money is not something that a lot of people just associate with newborn babies, but for some reason I get all realistic and think about all those costs. Diapers, medical care, and more that stuff adds up quick with babies. On top of that the costs just keep coming in as the baby grows up too.
After spending way too much time thinking about the costs of having children, and also finding an infographic that helps to prove my point, I’m not sure that kids are in my future. I have always thought that there is no way to be completely and financially ready to have a child no matter who you are because you never know what costs could come along, but at this point in my life the thought of spending all kinds of money to have a child scares me. Absolutely scares me.
