I am always late. It does not matter what time I wake up in the morning, I am always late for work. If I have a doctor’s appointment, I’m late. If I am meeting a friend for lunch, late again. For years, I kept trying to decide why I am consistently late for everything when I realized it’s because 1) I have too much to do and 2) I get sidetracked a little too easily. With that being said, I will still probably always wake up in the morning and try to do a load of laundry or dishes or vacuum the living room, so I need a way to make me morning routine quicker. I am not one to wear a lot of make-up for a day of working and then going home, but I did realize that my morning make up routine was taking longer than it really had to. I created my five minute face, which means that even though I may want to sweep the kitchen in the morning, I won’t be late because of it. Here are my tips for the 5 minute face. Your look will look and feel complete, and you’ll save a ton of time. All you need to get started is a primer with SPF, foundation, powder (if you prefer), bronzer, peach colored blush, and mascara.
- Start off your look with an all over make up primer that has an SPF. I love Clinique’s City Block Sheer. It has an SPF of 25 and it is oil free and allows your make up to last longer throughout the day. Apply and even layer all over your face.
- Follow your primer with you liquid foundation. I prefer a liquid because it makes skin look younger and more dewy as opposed to heavy powders that get in creases. I even have oily skin, and I stay clear of aging pressed powders. Apply your desired coverage. If you use a foundation, this will cut down on time even more.
- After you have your coverage, if you so choose, apply your loose powder over the foundation. After you have your base, then apply your bronzer to the tops of your cheek bones and around the orbital bone of your eye. The apply it lightly down the center of the face (forehead, nose, chin).
- The peach look is really trendy right now, and I love it because it works for all skin tones and you can use your blush as what I like to call a two-fer (two-for-one). Apply the peach blush to the apples of your cheeks. Using your same blush brush, apply the same peach color to your eyelids–lightly, of course.
- Top it all off with your favorite mascara and you are ready to head out the door with a perfect and simple day time look.

Those are some great tips. I never seem to have enough time to put my face on in the morning. Thank you for sharing.
I usually don’t bother with makeup as my job isn’t for attracting men. However with only spending 5 minutes I may think about it.
